Redline CTF LiteYour first CTF. No experience needed.
Twelve guided challenges that introduce offensive security to people who are new to it, and the on-ramp to the full Redline-CTF. Sized for one sitting of about three hours.
What you'll learn
Twelve challenges in four groups, following the order of a real security test. Each one teaches its tool as you go, from opening the terminal to a short mini engagement.
Look before you touch
Get around the Kali desktop and the rules of engagement, see what a company's public pages and DNS give away, find which services are running, and spot a phishing email.
Spot the weakness
Read a network capture, tell encoding from hashing from encryption, and read a firewall rule set to see what it lets in.
Get in
See why weak and default passwords matter, and how one common web flaw works, from finding it to fixing it.
After access, and the report
Read the logs an attack leaves behind, look around a host you have landed on, and finish with a small engagement that ends in a short findings report.
How it works
01
Learn
Each challenge is one scenario with several questions. A short plain-language explainer shows you how, and early questions walk you through it.
02
Hack
Work in your own Kali desktop in the browser. Later questions ask you to apply the idea yourself. Stuck? Hints are free and labelled, so you know what kind of help you're unlocking.
03
Get feedback
Once a question is done, an explanation tells you why the answer is right and what it means. Instructors get a class view showing who is ready for the full Redline-CTF.
For anyone new to hacking, including students on Network+ or Security+ material. No cybersecurity experience is needed, and every practice target is a made-up organisation that exists only inside your own lab.
Ready for the full Redline-CTF?
Lite is the on-ramp. It teaches the ideas and the tools, then points you at the full Redline-CTF, our PenTest+ range with a bigger challenge catalog and less hand-holding.
Running a class or club?
Redline CTF Lite is still in development and has not run a class yet. Tell us about your group and we'll tell you where it stands and what an event would involve.
